A home inspection is a thorough, non-invasive evaluation of the major components of the home. This is done with the use of various tools including moisture meters, voltage testers, and GFCI tester. The purpose is to identify any major defects, safety issues and fire concerns. If at all possible the inspector should try to get on the roof to perform the roof inspection. Be aware a quality inspection can take anywhere between two and a half to three hours depending on the size of the home. It is recommended to be on site at the time of the inspection. This will help you to better understand what the inspector has found and how severe the identified issues are. And any inspector should be happy to have you present.
